Sky journalist provides deadline day Eberechi Eze update amid Spurs rumours
Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge believes that the chances of Eberechi Eze completing a deadline-day move away from Crystal Palace are slim.
Eberechi Eze no longer has a release clause
Tottenham’s chances of landing Eze appeared to be over it emerged a week ago that the release clause in the attacking midfielder’s contract had expired (Fabrizio Romano).
That means that any interested clubs would now have to enter into talks with Palace, who are reportedly quite keen to hang onto the player.
It has been reported over the last week that it would take a mammoth offer to convince Oliver Glasner’s men to part ways with the attacker at this stage of the transfer window (Dharmesh Sheth – Last Word on Spurs).
A few days ago, Miguel Delaney revealed in his Reading the Game newsletter (23/8/24) that the Eagles are continuing to brace themselves for late offers for the England international as Manchester City and Liverpool continue to circle over the midfielder.
HITC issued a wild claim this week that a deadline day move to Spurs was still on the cards for Eze, but that report appears to be wide of the mark.
Crystal Palace will not sell Eberechi Eze today
However, Bridge believes that the South London club are not likely to let their star man leave at this stage of the window.
When asked about Eze, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “I mean, he was linked with Tottenham a lot, and my sources were telling me that’s not going to happen, much to the disappointment of Tottenham supporters.
“He’s still here with a day to go. Unless it’s something out of the blue, like nowhere, no one has heard anything on Eze. And I think if they lost Olise and Eze in the same summer, that would be quite a blow for Crystal Palace.”

The Australian might not want to slow down the Swede’s development by bringing in a new player through the door, particularly given that the teenager looks ready for the highest level.
