West Delhi Lions Triumph by Four Runs as Rain Disrupts South Delhi Superstarz
In the Delhi Premier League encounter on Friday that was impacted by rain, West Delhi Lions defeated South Delhi Superstarz by a margin of four runs.
The Lions reached 178 for five in the 20 overs thanks to a 106 off 68 balls effort by Krish Yadav.
The play halted due to rain and the cut-off time, leaving the Superstarz four runs short of the DLS score after they had started the chase on a fiery note and were reduced to 123 for five in 15 overs.
The Superstarz’s Priyansh Arya (25 off nine balls) hammered 16 runs in the first over, but Saksham Gahlot’s dismissal of Saurabh Deswal in the next over cost him a golden duck.
After hitting four sixes in one over, Ayush Badoni (30 off 7 balls) led his team to 40 for two at the end of the second over.
After hitting five sixes in all, Badoni fell, while the Superstarz scored 70 runs during the powerplay before losing a few more wickets fast.
South Delhi was taken to 123/5 by Sumit Mathur and Vision Panchal, but rain stopped play after the fifteenth over.
Ankit Kumar (28) and Yadav, the Lions’ opening pair, had earlier compiled 61 runs in the powerplay before the latter was bowled out by Digvesh Rathi in the ninth over.
Yadav reached his fifty in forty-one deliveries.
At 120 for one, the Lions were in a comfortable position and were set up for a large total.
However, South Delhi struck twice, as Yadav reached his ton in 62 deliveries in the 18th over, while Hritik Shokeen (16 off 18) fell in the 16th over at 141 for two.
Brief scores: West Delhi Lions 178/5 in 20 overs (Krish Yadav 106, Ankit Kumar 28; Raghav Singh 2/33) beat South Delhi Superstarz 123-5 in 15 overs (Ayush Badoni 30; Deepak Punia 1/8) by 4 runs via D/L method.
