'Game of Thrones' Creator George R.R. Martin Promises to Address What's 'Gone Wrong' With 'House of the Dragon'

George R.R. Martin, the creator of the Game of Thrones franchise, is hinting at drama involving the spinoff series, House of the Dragon.

The second season of the series, which is set decades before GoT, premiered on HBO this year. It is expected to run for two more seasons.

However, in a post on his blog, George promised to speak to his fans about what’s “gone wrong” with the show, adding that his year has been “full of stress, anger, conflict, and defeat.”

“This has not been a good year for anyone, with war everywhere and fascism on the rise… and on a more personal level, I have had a pretty wretched year as well, one full of stress, anger, conflict, and defeat,” George wrote in an August 30 post.

He continued, promising that he would address some of what’s gone wrong for him.

“I do not look forward to other posts I need to write, about everything that’s gone wrong with HOUSE OF THE DRAGON… but I need to do that too, and I will,” he added.

The author did not clarify what exactly he was referring to. However, the finale of the second season was met with mixed reviews.

The finale leaked ahead of its premiere, which did spark some drama. While some weren’t thrilled with the conclusion of the season, House of the Dragon did soar to record-breaking ratings.

Earlier this summer, George revealed that plans for a previously scrapped spinoff show were back in the works.
