Fairview plane crash leaves thousands powerless

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Thousands of people lost power Saturday morning when a small plane crashed in a residential area of Fairview, sending debris in a wide area.

The crash happened around 10:20 a.m. when the plane went down near the Troutdale airport, officials with the Port of Portland said. On the way down, the plane hit a power pole before crashing into a townhome building.

That caused the power outage that, as of 1:45 p.m., left nearly 20,000 Portland General Electric customers in the dark.
