Relief coming from weeklong heat wave, scattered showers

Central Ohio Weather and Radar

Temperatures are cooler today, in the mid-80s, with cloud cover and spotty showers. Strong storms that developed in the southeastern part of the state will move past the Ohio River this evening.

A cold front will cross the state through early tonight, followed by slightly cooler and less humid moving in by morning. Temperatures will fall into the mid-60s.

Sunshine returns Sunday, with warm afternoon temperatures in the mid-80s. Some clouds will develop later, and an isolated shower is possible toward sunset with a secondary cold front sinking southeast.

Much cooler weather and less humid weather will arrive for Labor Day. A northwesterly flow of pleasant air, with high pressure building down from Canada, will provide lots of sunshine. Temperatures on the holiday will stay in the 70s, and then dip into the low 50s Tuesday morning.

There will be midweek warm-up, with highs back in the mid- to upper 80s. Showers and storms are possible on Friday ahead of a cold front.
