Most say Harris will accept election results, but Trump won’t: Poll

Most Americans say Vice President Harris is ready to accept the outcome of November’s presidential election, but former President Trump is not, a new survey shows.

The ABC News/Ipsos survey found differing opinions about each candidate’s willingness to accept the results.

Sixty-eight percent of respondents think Harris is prepared to accept the results of the election while 29 percent say she is unprepared.

On the other hand, just 29 percent of respondents say they think Trump is prepared to accept the outcome while 67 percent say he’s unprepared to do so.

Voters themselves say they are ready to accept the results of the upcoming election. Eighty-one percent say they are ready to accept the outcome of the election while 17 percent say they are unprepared.

The survey found that one in three voters lacks confidence that votes in the election will be counted accurately. Sixty-five percent are very or somewhat confident that ballots will be counted correctly.

Respondents who say they lack confidence in election integrity are also associated with preparedness to accept the election outcome.

People who were confident that votes will be counted accurately say they are prepared to accept the results of the election while those who lack confidence say they are not ready to accept the results.

The survey found that respondents who labeled themselves as very conservative were less likely to say they would accept the outcome of the election than those who say they are liberal, moderate or somewhat conservative.

The survey was conducted Aug. 23-27 among 2,496 adults. It has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
