Final advisory issued as BMS tracks approaching tropical wave

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is continuing to monitor the progress of a tropical wave located about 1,025 km east of Barbados.

As of 5 p.m. today, no watches or warnings are in effect for the island.

The tropical wave is expected to reach the Eastern Caribbean by Monday, September 2nd, bringing the likelihood of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Should conditions worsen, relevant watches or warnings will be issued.

Residents should be aware that light winds and uncomfortable daytime temperatures will persist throughout the remainder of the weekend. Localized activity and flash flooding remain possible in the western and northwestern districts during the afternoon.

While the tropical wave remains embedded in the monsoon trough, the chance of significant development over the next 48 hours has diminished as it moves closer to the island chain.

The BMS will continue to monitor the system, but this is the final update on the tropical wave unless conditions change.

The BMS encourages the public to stay informed by following updates from the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), Government Information Service (GIS), and BMS websites, as well as their social media pages and local media networks. (BMS)
