'Really tacky': Even far-right Moms for Liberty members want Trump to stop sexist comments

Donald Trump recently attempted to woo the far-right Moms for Liberty group, but some of its members are worried about the former president's sexist remarks, according to a new report.

Trump addressed the Moms for Liberty Summit in Washington, D.C., on Friday evening. Moms for Liberty is a far-right group that has been at the forefront of challenging the content found in school libraries around the country, often labeling mentions of sexual themes in literature as pornography.

The next day, the New York Times published a report titled, "Conservative Moms, Charmed by Trump, Would Rather Avoid His Misogyny."

Reporter Shawn McCreesh highlights conversations with group members who were asked about Trump's recent sexist attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, including one in which the former president included a picture of Harris and Hillary Clinton, along with a user's comment about oral sex.

Tiffany Justice, the group’s co-founder, was one of the individuals who were asked about that particular post.

"Asked what she thought about Mr. Trump posting this, Ms. Justice stammered, 'You know what, I think that, uh, a lot of people say a lot of things. And we’re focused on the issues that are hurting American voters.'"

Justice wasn't the only one who was apparently made uncomfortable by Trump's behavior.

"But some of the Moms for Liberty acknowledged they would prefer a little less crude talk from the man they hope will lead the nation once more," according to McCreesh's Saturday report.

“'That was really tacky,' said Eva Maria Scott, a financial adviser (and mother of four) from Fredericksburg, Va. 'He needs to get off the tweets. That’s very disrespectful,'" it states.

It continues:

"Paula Steiner, the former president of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women, looked deeply uncomfortable when asked what she made of Mr. Trump’s post. She said that she did not 'really want to talk about that' and that it’s 'not an important issue for me.'"
