Pelendritou takes silver at Paralympics, govt proud of her success

Cypriot Paralympic swimmer Karolina Pelendritou won silver on Saturday evening in the s11 50-metre freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Pelendritou, 38, finished at 29.82 and was behind China’s Ma Jia (28.96).

Third place was won by the Ukranian paralympic swimmer, who finished at 30.30.

This is Pelendritou’s seventh Paralympic medal, as she won three gold medals, a silver and two bronze in previous Paralympic Games.

She will also be competing at the Paris La Défense Arena on September 5 in the SB11 category 100m breaststroke race.

Cyprus’ presidency congratulated Pelendritou on her silver medal.

“Once again, Karolina Pelendritou makes us nationally proud of her strength, athletic skills and steely will that led her to the huge success of winning the silver medal of the Paralympic Games.

“Karolina’s great success honours once again Cypriot sport by placing it high on the world sporting scene,” they said.
