Iran deploys AI and Surveillance to secure border with Afghanistan

Iranian security officials responsible for implementing the plan to block the country’s eastern borders state that they are utilizing surveillance technologies and artificial intelligence in this initiative.

Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari, commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces, recently stated that they have implemented “intelligent blockades” using artificial intelligence in the border blocking plan with Afghanistan.

He mentioned, “Simply building a wall is not sufficient to block these borders; we need to leverage advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.”

The Iranian official clarified that the border-blocking plan with Afghanistan and Pakistan involves “various surveillance technologies such as sensors, alert radars, various drones, and ground sensors.”

“All of these, in addition to the border wall, create an intelligent blockade because just putting up a wall is not enough.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran initiated the practical implementation of its eastern border-blocking plan with Afghanistan and Pakistan in March of the current year, and it continues.

    Iran’s deployment of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in its border security strategy underscores a comprehensive approach to safeguarding its eastern borders.

    The integration of surveillance systems with physical barriers enhances the effectiveness of border control efforts, reflecting ongoing efforts to manage cross-border activities and ensure national security.
