Cole Kmet Shared A Caleb Williams Story That Can’t Be Real

If there is one thing about Caleb Williams that has become clear over the first few months he’s been quarterback of the Chicago Bears, it’s that he is a unique personality. He is not your garden-variety soldier-like guy, just trying to do what coaches and teammates expect of him. Williams has likes and dislikes and isn’t afraid to express them. He also has certain priorities in life that some may have trouble understanding. Tight end Cole Kmet found this out during the course of their conversations together.

He explained on his podcast, The 85, that the two got to talking about Williams’ Heisman trophy. He won the coveted award in 2022 while at USC. One would think the quarterback would mount it in some kind of elaborate trophy case or on a mantle in his living room. Nope. Even better.

It seems impossible that somebody who loves football as much as Williams would hold the most celebrated award in college on the same level as LEGO sets. Well, proof has emerged.

It’s becoming easy to see why Cole Kmet and others love Williams.

When they say the quarterback is just another one of the guys, they aren’t lying. Williams doesn’t carry himself like somebody who thinks he is above others, like some Roman aristocrat looking down on the lowly plebians. He has hobbies, too. Everybody knows someone in their lives who is obsessed with LEGOs. It isn’t a $17 billion business by accident. The fact the Heisman holds the same value to him as two sets that clearly took many hours to construct should tell you all you need to know. Hard work is hard work, regardless of where it is applied. Cole Kmet and other football junkies might struggle to understand that, but this is a reminder that people like Williams exist. It’s okay to love something just as much as football.
