Former Player Thinks Caleb Williams Resembles A Different Hall Of Famer
Caleb Williams came in with plenty of hype from the draft community. Every time a comparison was brought up, the two names mentioned the most were Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. Not too shabby. Williams himself has stated that he likes to model his game after others like Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford. It is clear he has a sharp eye for what elite quarterbacks look like. To this day, Stafford doesn’t get enough credit for how great he’s been. However, none of those names came to mind for Manti Te’o.
The former NFL linebacker was around some great quarterbacks in his career. He was teammates with Philip Rivers in San Diego and then Drew Brees in New Orleans. One would think he’d mention them when discussing Williams. However, he took an unexpected pivot by stating the Bears quarterback reminds him more of a legend from a different sport.
Caleb Williams as Steph Curry isn’t as crazy as people think.
Curry, at 6’2″, came into the NBA with questions about his size. He overcame that, thanks to his uncanny accuracy as a shooter. Yet what people often overlooked was his leadership ability. Curry helped elevate the Golden State locker room in ways it never had before. His competitive drive and ability to forge strong relationships turned the Warriors into an eventual powerhouse.
In many ways, Caleb Williams fits that profile. At 6’1, he’s considered undersized for a quarterback. He overcomes that thanks to his amazing accuracy as a passer, especially on the run. He’s also already being lauded for his leadership and ability to communicate with teammates on a personal level. Maybe if Curry played football, he would’ve been a lot like Williams. If the Bears QB ends up becoming that type of player, this organization is about to do great things.
