“Worked very hard…”: Samit Dravid’s first reaction to India U-19 selection
Samit Dravid, the son of legendary Indian batter Rahul Dravid recently achieved a big milestone in his career as he received a maiden call-up to the India under-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia.
Samit, who is fast-bowling all-rounder, impressed the selectors during the Cooch Behar Trophy earlier his year. He was one of the most important players in the Karnataka side that went on to win the tournament for the first time ever.
Speaking to Star Sports Kannada, 18-year-old Samit said “First of all, I’m very happy to be selected, and thank you for all your wishes. I am feeling great, I’ve worked very hard for this moment.”
News of Samit’s selection follows after the BCCI’s announcement of the teams for the ODI and 4-day squads for the series against Australia, and Samit features in both units.
Following his father’s footsteps, Samit has made a name for himself in the domestic circuit by massively contributing in Karnataka’s Cooch Behar Trophy triumph with 382 runs and 16 wickets in the tournament.
Similar to his father, Samit has shown a particular affinity for the red-ball format and has also impressed with the similarities in style and technique to his father Rahul Dravid.
The series against Australia will begin with a 3-match ODI series which will be played in Puducherry and will commence from September 21.
