Amazon slashes Elemis cleansing balm to £39 – but there’s an ‘amazing’ £9 alternative that shoppers prefer

AMAZON has slashed the cost of a best-selling cleansing balm from Elemis from £48 to £39.

But there’s a cheaper alternative that both I and shoppers prefer – and it’s been reduced to just £9.

Amazon has cut the price of the Elemis Cleansing Balm – there’s a cheaper alternative from Weleda

Balm, £9.71 (was £12.95)

Elemis is, of course, a big-hitter in the beauty market, but its products often come with a hefty price tag.

By contrast, Weleda’s Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm has been reduced from £12.95 down to £9.71 on the Amazon website.

Though might not sound like much, but it’s a saving of 25%.

The Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm might have been slashed to £39 – but that’s still a lot to splurge on a cleanser, in my opinion.

I’ve tried and tested both products over the years, but Weleda is hands down the one cleanser I will always return to, followed by the trusted Skin Food moisturiser.

Considering it’s on sale, and there’s a £30 price difference with Elemis, this is a beauty deal I urge you not to miss.

Look at it this way: for the price of one tub of the Elemis Cleansing Balm, I could buy four Weleda Cleansing Balms.

Weleda’s Skin Food range is hugely popular: even Victoria Beckham is said to rely on the Skin Food moisturiser, which I also love.

But when it comes to my cleansing routine (which I practice twice a day, morning and evening) I need a product that’s gentle on the skin but effective.

And Weleda’s Cleansing Balm definitely ticks both those boxes.

This skin balm boasts a clean, plant-based formulation, which is doesn’t irritate my eyes or face.

A bugbear with some cleansers is they can strip the skin of natural oils when removing make-up, and leave your face feeling dry and tight – obviously, that’s pretty counter-productive.

Admittedly, I found this was a case after a few uses of the Elemis Cleansing Balm in previous years.

However, I can use Weleda’s Cleansing Balm both day and night, day after day, without irritation or a change in my skin texture.

It removes stubborn make-up effortlessly, and is hydrating at the same time.

Both the Weleda and Elemis cleansing balms have a similar texture.

They start as a solid balm, but when massaged into the skin, and mixed with water, they both turn into a soothing oil-like texture, similar to melted butter.

For Weleda’s Cleansing Balm, this oily-yet-nourishing finish – which is not to be confused with a greasy texture – is thanks to natural ingredients that include sunflower seed oil and rosemary leaf extract.

Similarly, the Elemis cleansing balm features starflower and elderberry oil, as well as brown algae. These nourish the skin while also cleansing it.

This particular cleansing balm is also infused with collagen: that all-important ingredient to boost the skin’s elasticity for a youthful complexion.

The balm to oil formula makes it easy to take both cleansers on the go, and it means a little goes a long way – certainly in comparison to micellar water or cleansing milks.

Weleda’s product provides a deep cleanse, and actually suits my skin type better: it leaves a silky smooth finish after removing make-up.,

It’s for that reason, combined with the huge saving, it gets my seal of approval.

Plus, my boyfriend loves it too – and let me tell you: he’s not one for a skincare routine.

But don’t just take my word for it, as Amazon shoppers are equally as obsessed with the Elemis alternative too.

One happy shopper gushed: “When using it, it feels oily, like it will make you skin terrible.

“But after you wash it off, it’s amazing. Your skin feels so soft!!”

Another praised: “You only need a little on dry skin and it melts away your make-up so easily and effortlessly. Then rinse.

“I do [a] double-cleanse on make-up days. It leaves your skin feeling soft and supple.

“I follow with the skin food original cream. Will definitely repurchase.”

A separate beauty buff wrote: “I have dry skin on my face and have used endless cleansers over the years and struggled to find any that don’t dry me out and leave my face feeling tight.

“Even cleansers that others have said work for their dry skin, never seemed to work for me. I have tried Elemis, Kate Somerville, Body Shop, Farmacy and this works better than them all.”

I’m not sure how long this Amazon deal will last – so I’m buying a few of these while they’re on sale. Makes sense to stock up, right?
