9/2/24: Brief Fling With Fall

Latest Forecast Update from Meteorologist Rob Lindenmuth:

Good morning and Happy Labor Day! Things are looking much more comfortable this afternoon behind a cold front, humidity will continue to drop and we will enjoy plenty of sunshine, but a bit of a breeze will develop into the afternoon and evening. Our cooler weather continues tonight into Tuesday morning, in fact, it will get so cool that a frost advisory will go into effect for the Adirondacks at midnight tonight into 9am Tuesday morning for temperatures in the low to mid 30s!

Before we get to the night though, it looks to be a very pleasant afternoon with plenty of sunshine, low humidity and temperatures warming into the low to mid 70s. Some areas in the Adirondacks and Catskills may hold in the mid to upper 60s.

It will be cool for everyone tonight, with many areas falling into the low to mid 40s. Again, the frost advisory is only for the Adirondacks, so that is where you will want to protect any plants that may be more sensitive to some frost.

We will expect more sunshine for Tuesday as high pressure continues to build into the northeast. This will keep us dry and seasonably cool. Because of the chilly start to the day, temperatures may struggle to make their way into the low to mid 70s once again.

Not quite as cool for Tuesday night, but temperatures will still likely fall into the mid to upper 40s. More sunshine and quiet weather for the remainder of the week with temperatures getting to where they should be for early September with most in the mid to upper 70s. We are watching for the potential for a wet start to the weekend, Saturday will likely bring rain, the only question is when. Currently it appears the best chance for that rain will be later in the afternoon and evening, but timing differences in some of the global guidance does still exist, so will need to monitor the trends over the coming days. It does appear we will get the steadiest rain out of here for Sunday with a return to partly sunny skies with seasonably cool temperatures. Have a great and safe Labor Day! -Rob
