Suryakumar Yadav To Miss First Round of Duleep Trophy Due To Injury, BCCI Yet To Name Replacement

Mumbai: Suryakumar Yadav will miss the first round matches of Duleep Trophy starting from September 5 following his hand injury which he sustained during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament last week. Playing for Mumbai Cricket Association, the India T20I skipper played sustained the injury while fielding at the leg slip against TNCA XI in Coimbatore. In fact, Suryakumar, missed the last day’s play.

Suryakumar was set to play for India C against India D at Ananthapur in the first-round clash from September 5-8. He has reported at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. However, the BCCI is yet to announce a replacement for Suryakumar.

Simultaneously, India A and India B will clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the other match of the competition. The competition will serve as an opportunity for Indian players in contention for selection in the two-Test series at home against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.
