City of Glasgow Cup Tie – Queen’s Park V Partick Thistle
Queen’s Park’s City of Glasgow Cup campaign begins on Monday with a Group game against Partick Thistle and the Spiders are out to go one better than last season when they reached the semi-finals.
Sean Crighton will lead the Queen’s Park side taking the field at Lochinch into the encounter with the B Team Head Coach setting the players the objective of putting their stamp on the tournament.
“City of Glasgow Cup Games at this stage of the season are a bit of a trip into the unknown,” said Sean before adding: “However regardless of how our opponents shape up I want the Queen’s Park side to show their identity and play the way we want to play.”
“It is great to have this competition as it gives our players further experience in terms of development and also in trying to win games. We want our players to develop and part of that development is creating a winning mentality by getting a positive result by doing the right things.”
Sean added: “We will pick the players from the squad that played Dunfermline last week as well as some boys from the First Team. We played well in periods on Tuesday, and I am looking for us to build on them.”
The game kicks off at 2pm and the club would advise that car parking at Lochinch will be severely restricted.
