We live off-grid in a caravan with 2 kids, we cook every meal outside, drink rainwater & can only take 15 SECOND showers

A FAMILY-OF-FIVE living full-time in a campervan gave a realistic insight into life on the road.

The Australian couple and their three young daughters enjoy most meals outside but have to limit their showers and collect rainwater for drinking.

In a viral video, the Falzon family (@nxtstop.falzonfamily) showed their followers their daily routine.

Alex and Luke moved four-year-old daughter Ariah and newborn Scarlett onto their campervan so they could explore the country together.

However, the adventure didn’t come without certain compromises for the family.

While the obvious issues of being away from loved ones and living in close proximity are still difficult, the couple face day-to-day challenges raising their family on the road.

In one video, they poked fun at the limitations their unique lifestyle comes with.

This included having to collect rainwater from their awning before filtering it to drink.

Their limited water access also means that the couple often have to limit themselves to taking just 15 second showers.

However, they still prioritise getting their children’s laundry done, whether that means visiting amenities at campsites or handwashing the clothes themselves.

They also have to limit their battery usage, forgoing coffee in order to boil water to sterilise little Scarlett’s bottles.

However, life on the road comes with a wide range of perks, including visiting countless sandy beaches along the Queensland coast.

The family also enjoyed barbeques for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Luke demonstrated how he uses the outdoor grill to make everything from fried eggs to Nando’s style chicken.

Alex added that keeping the campervan clean can be a challenge but explained that the small space could be easily tidied.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the unique set-up in the comments section.

“Living the dreaaaaaam!!!! Best experiences and life skills for your bubbas, so very jealous!” wrote one viewer.

The Rise Of Van Life

The rise of van life began during the pandemic in 2020. With no one able to leave the country, staycations became popular for many say camping blog venturecampers.

On top of that, the rising cost of renting a house has put many off doing so, especially when wages have failed to keep up with the cost of living crisis.

Although it has gained popularity again, many people opted for van life in the 60s and 70s.

“Love it, guys. Keep it coming. My kids are 30 but would have loved to do it. Living my life through you,” said another follower.

“Best life for your family, we are doing the boat thing soon,” commented a third person.

“You’re rocking the best life,” said another impressed commenter.

“Hope you’re enjoying the best beaches in the world!” wrote one viewer.
