'Come on': CNN's Acosta buries GOP operative's rant about Trump-Russia probe

Republican operative David Urban on Monday found himself getting shut down when he complained about the so-called Steele dossier that was filled with many pieces of false intelligence suggesting a conspiracy between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the 2016 presidential election.

The comments came after a discussion about Trump saying that he had the "right" to try to overturn the results of the 2020 election by pressing Vice President Mike Pence to unilaterally reject certified election results.

During the debate over Trump's actions after 2020, Urban tried to make a comparison with what Trump did and what Democrats did after Trump's upset 2016 victory, despite the fact that then-rival Hillary Clinton conceded the race to Trump the next day and then did not incite a deadly riot at the United States Capitol in a desperate bid to block the certification of Trump's win.

"After the 2016 election, I had to suffer through four years of Russia collusion, which we now know was all funded by the DNC, the Steele dossier and everything," he complained.

Acosta, however, was ready to push back on claims that the investigation into whether Trump worked with Russian intelligence operatives in 2016 to subvert the election was anything but a hoax.

"When Don Jr. and Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort are meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower in 2016, I mean, you know, come on," Acosta said.

"But Jim, the Steele dossier was fake!" replied Urban, without bothering to address Acosta's point of the infamous meeting where multiple members of Trump's inner circle met with a Russian operative promising "dirt" on Clinton.

Acosta, however, kept pressing the point.

"Why did the president's son, son-in-law, and campaign manager meet with a Russian attorney at Trump Tower?" he asked. "Did you ever ask Donald Trump why they did that?"

"Jim, I didn't," Urban acknowledged.

"What campaign does that?!" replied an incredulous Acosta.
