While the 19-year-old undoubtedly has huge potential, as he showed at Burnley last season, many wondered whether he is the kind of signing to take the side to the next level.

However, one thing that is very clear is that Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of the teenager, revealing a couple of days ago that he is the one who pushed for the Frenchman’s signing (Football.London).

Odobert made an impressive start to his Tottenham career, delivering an exciting and eye-catching display against Everton last week but his outing against Newcastle did not go to plan, with the youngster missing a huge opportunity in the second-half with the goal gaping.

Sturridge is certainly excited about the Spurs newcomer, backing him to add a different dimension to Tottenham’s attack with his directness.

The former Liverpool man told Sky Sports: “We are talking about a guy who is going to be taking people on with the ball at his feet. He is not shy of confidence, he can go either way, left foot, right foot, or stepovers.

“This guy is going to bring creativity to Spurs in one one-on-one situations that they have probably not had for a while, in terms of how direct he plays.”

Odobert is still extremely young and will continue to get better as he gains more experience under his belt.

The teenager has all the raw materials to evolve into a top attacker and Postecoglou will feel he can get the best out of him.
