Two kayakers dead after drowning in Guernsey County lake

LORE CITY, Ohio (WCMH) -- Two men are dead after drowning in a lake at an Ohio state park Sunday afternoon in Guernsey County.

A spokesperson with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said that two men were kayaking at 2:47 p.m. at Salt Fork State Park in Lore City. One of the kayakers capsized which led the other man, on a separate kayak, to jump into the water to help.

ODNR officers arrived and recovered one body from the water before recovering the other body several hours later, per an ODNR spokesperson. The investigation into the two drownings is ongoing.
