Trump says Americans 'suffering' during Labor Day despite record-setting travel

Donald Trump took to TruthSocial on Labor Day to claim that the economy is doing far worse than Americans think.

"Happy Labor Day to all of our American Workers who represent the Shining Example of Hard Work and Ingenuity. Under Comrade Kamala Harris, all Americans are suffering during this Holiday weekend - High Gas Prices, Transportation Costs are up, and Grocery Prices are through the roof," Trump wrote.

Trump claims in his updates that gas and transportation costs are up, despite the fact that Americans set a record this weekend for one of the busiest travel days in American history, The Angeles Times reported.

Over 17 million airline passengers are planning to travel, the Transportation Security Administration said.

Additionally, AAA recently reported that domestic travel on the roads has increased 9% thus far, and the cost of travel is down 2%.

"Those lower costs this year are led by domestic airfare, which is 2% lower than last year, and rental cars, down 16% in price. Domestic hotels, however, are running 7% more expensive this Labor Day weekend compared to last year, according to AAA Travel bookings," AAA Public Affairs said in a release.

Citing the TSA data, AAA also noted that international flights are 8% less expensive and that this is the end of a "record-breaking air travel summer."
