1 hurt as press and staff vans in Tim Walz motorcade crash ahead of rally: reports

One person was injured in a Labor Day crash involving members of the press who were in vice presidential nominee Tim Walz's motorcade, according to reports.

Two vans collided around 1 p.m. on a freeway in Milwaukee, where Walz was to hold a Labor Day campaign rally. A staff member in a press van suffered a broken arm, CBS News reported, citing journalists who said they were violently thrown in the wreck.

The campaign said that Walz's vehicle was not involved in the crash.

Walz, his wife, Gwen, and Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) continued along with the rest of the motorcade to the site pf the Milwaukee Area Labor Council’s Laborfest, reported Matt Smith of WISN News.

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris was in Detroit for a campaign event, Deadline reported.

"Some of my staff and members of the press were traveling with us were involved in a traffic accident on the way here today," Walz said as he opened his rally Monday. "We've spoken with the staff, I'm relieved to say that with a few minor injuries, everyone is going to be ok."
