U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.05 percent to 101.653 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1071 U.S. dollars from 1.1052 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3146 dollars from 1.3122 dollars in the previous session
