Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall talks K-State, cowgirl persona, husband on K-Nation

MANHATTAN, KS. (KSNT) - Olympic long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall has brought her talents to the Little Apple.

Newly hired K-State track and field coach Travis Geopfert announced his new assistants in early August, and Davis-Woodhall was part of the mix.

She caught up with K-Nation's Landon Reinhardt after being formally introduced in Manhattan.

"It's been a crazy experience, I was welcomed with so much warmth," Davis-Woodhall said of her arrival. "This is a place of community, and that's my biggest, biggest life goal."

Tara has shaped out a life of notoriety alongside her husband Hunter Woodhall - who have over two million Instagram followers combined. Hunter is a double-leg amputee competing in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The couple met in high school and now, continue to break boundaries.

"We're just two adventurous kids living out a dream," Davis-Woodhall said. "We don't take this life too seriously, because we've gone through so much, individually and together."

Reinhardt also asked about Coach Geopfert, who goes back years with the couple. Shortly into a viral video, where Tara jumps in Hunter's arm after she won Olympic gold, Hunter tells Tara to 'go see coach.'

"When he told us he was coming to K-State, we were already packing our bags and looking for a place to live," Davis-Woodhall said. "He's our person. Not only is he a really good coach, but he's a really good human being."
