Two arrested in Amsterdam on burglary charges

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported the arrest of two people from Palatine Bridge following a larceny investigation. Angelia Ortiz, 38, and Dimitrious Koulouris, 44, are both facing multiple charges.

On August 29, the MCSO responded to the Home Depot in Amsterdam after receiving a report that a man had just left the store through the fire escape door after stealing multiple items, before fleeing the scene in a black Mercedes. Following the description of the vehicle, deputies were able to locate the Mercedes on Miami Avenue.

Deputies say the vehicle's driver and passenger, identified as Ortiz and Koulouris respectively, were both allegedly found to have the stolen items with them, resulting in their arrest. Further investigation revealed that both Ortiz and Koulouris had warrants for their arrests in connection to previous larcenies. They now face the following charges:

Ortiz

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Petit larceny
  • Criminal possession of stolen property
  • Fifth-degree conspiracy
  • Sixth-degree conspiracy
  • Numerous vehicle and traffic law violations

Koulouris

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Petit larceny
  • Fifth-degree conspiracy

Ortiz and Koulouris were arraigned at the Town of Amsterdam Court. Ortiz was then released on her own recognizance, while Koulouris was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility with no bail. They are both scheduled to return to court at a later date.
