Pro-Palestinian protesters flood Manhattan streets on Labor Day

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters flooded some of the busiest areas in New York City on Labor Day, according to Citizen App videos.

The crowds gathered in Union Square and Washington Square Park before marching along Fifth Avenue up to the New York Public Library, according to videos of the scenes. The protesters were waving flags and signs supporting the Palestinians.

"From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," the protesters chanted.

"We are here to change the narrative to expose the lies, to show the truth that masses stand with Palestine," the protesters said.

Several NYPD officers were seen patrolling Union Square. It was unclear if there were any arrests during the rallies, police said.

On Monday, President Joe Biden met with the U.S. negotiators to work on a cease-fire in Gaza and the release of the hostages, accoridng to White House officials. The Isreal-Gaza conflict began on Oct. 7, 2023.

American Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages were killed by Hamas. President Biden stressed the importance of holding Hamas’s leaders accountable, officials said.
