Free admission, dance classes at the Whitney Museum
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Looking for fun activities to close out summer? How about dance lessons at the Whitney Museum.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will teach free dance lessons outside the museum on Sept. 8 at 12 and 2 p.m. At the same time, admission to the museum will be free from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as part of the Whitney’s free second Sundays program.
Not much of a dancer? Get creative with a drawing class from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Whitney Museum’s eighth-floor gallery, or a still life sketching class from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the theater. For kids, the New York Public Library will do storytimes at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the museum’s lobby.
The dance lessons are first-come-first-serve, but free tickets to the museum must be reserved on the Whitney’s website.
