'Will this be front-page news?' Old Donald Trump post spurs new outrage on social media

An old Donald Trump post suggesting that baseless voter fraud could be grounds for suspending the Constitution spurred new outrage on Monday night.

In December 2022, Trump took to his social media site Truth Social to promote the "Big Lie" — and used it as justification for the "termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution."

"Our great 'Founders' did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!" he wrote.

As Axios reported at the time, the post came after Elon Musk released information about the role X, then known as Twitter, played in limiting access to a story about Hunter Biden.

The post resurfaced Monday on X, with Democratic strategists and other social media influencers seizing on it.

"Yet again, Donald Trump calls for suspending the US Constitution so he can be restored to power. Will this be front-page news?" David Corn, Washington D.C. bureau chief of Mother Jones and MSNBC analyst wrote on X, attaching a screenshot of the post.

Democratic strategist Keith Boykin reshared Corn's post and wrote: "Trump calls for the termination of the US Constitution. Yes, the same Constitution the president must take an oath to 'preserve, protect and defend.' A presidential candidate threatening to terminate the Constitution is dangerous and disqualifying and should not be normalized."

In response to Corn, the account Republicans against Trump acknowledged that while the post may be old, the media "should talk about it. He should be asked about it at the debate."
