A citizen of Afghanistan executed in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking

Arab media outlets have reported that a citizen of Afghanistan has been executed in Saudi Arabia on charges of drug trafficking.

The news organization Tunisia-Sat reported yesterday that, according to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, an Afghan national named Abdul Qayyum Shinwari was executed in the city of Mecca.

According to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Interior, “Abdul Qayyum Shinwari, a citizen of Afghanistan, smuggled heroin into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Security authorities apprehended him, and the investigation concluded.”

The statement indicated that Abdul Qayyum Shinwari’s execution took place on Saturday, August 31, in the Mecca region.

This execution highlights the stringent anti-drug laws in Saudi Arabia and the severe penalties for drug-related crimes.
