Dynamic performance by Tziortzis in Czech Republic

Vladimiros Tziortzis had a very good performance at the Autodrom Most track in the Czech Republic last weekend, during the fifth round of the year in EURONASCAR PRO, the last before the semi-finals and finals that will take place in Germany and Belgium respectively.

The Cypriot driver recorded excellent laps during the weekend, managing to take one place in the top ten, while in the other race he was put out of the top ten due to a penalty for a collision with another driver, which could not be avoided.

Tziortzis is optimistic that through the last races of the season he will be able to climb to the top spots of the general standings, as in the next races points count double.

“In the general classification I am 12th and if the two worst results are removed, I am already in the top ten. From Germany and Belgium the points are double. Our difference with the first one is about 50-60 points” he says and adds: “The result is overturned as it was overturned with me last year when I was 40 points ahead of the lead and in the end I lost the championship due to mechanical failures Everything is open, the title remains possible and the top three even more.”

In Saturday’s qualifying, Tziortzis missed out on Super Pole, which features the top ten, by one place due to a block by another driver in the last corner. “I was seventh and on the last lap I was blocked by Italian Riccardo Romagnoli and I couldn’t complete my best lap so I fell to 11th” he notes and continues referring to the first race on the 4,212 km track: “I finished 9th but after a contact we had with the Frenchman Ulysse Delsaux, who braked too quickly and I didn’t have time to react, I received a two-place penalty, because when two cars touch, the one behind is at fault. Therefore, I ended up taking 11th place in the first race.”

On Sunday the 27-year-old was tenth on the starting grid, based on the best time he recorded in the first race.

At the start and specifically in the third turn there was a big accident, similar to the one that had happened in Valencia and caused damage to many cars.

“I avoided damage as much as I could. I couldn’t see in front of me and had to choose which side to take and I ended up taking the left. As soon as I chose it, No21 (Liam Lambert) crashed into me and as a result my bumpers broke” he recounts and adds: “There was a red flag because there were a lot of damaged cars. We forced and taped all the bumpers to hold so I could somehow finish the race. At the restart I was seventh, I was in that position for a long time, but when the bumpers fly and are not stable, you lose on the straight, since they cut the air.”

In the end, Tziortzis took eighth place in the second race.

Next for the Cypriot driver is the semi-finals in Germany on the weekend of September 21-22, while the final in Belgium will take place on October 12-13.
