Saylor Timmerman’s no-hitter powers USA to 15-0 win over Ireland
USA’s WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Group C game against Ireland saw a complete game no-hitter by Saylor Timmerman and a relentless offence, leading to a 15-0 victory in just three innings at The Village in Dallas, United States, on Thursday.
Timmerman set the tone early, retiring Ireland’s batters with ease while her teammates provided ample run support. The USA asserted their dominance from the start, loading the bases in the first inning with two walks and a single. Townsen Thomas delivered a crucial two-run single to right field, putting the hosts ahead 2-0. Ireland's left fielder, Cassidy Moriarty, made a spectacular jumping catch to record the second out, preventing further damage.
In the second inning, the USA extended their lead when Brooke Wells crushed a grand slam to left field, capitalising on two singles and a walk. This offensive explosion brought the score to 6-0, giving the USA complete control of the game.
The bottom of the third inning saw the USA send 12 batters to the plate, scoring nine runs to secure the 15-0 walkoff victory. The overwhelming offensive display, combined with Timmerman's no-hitter, left Ireland with no answers. Cameron Kelly started for Ireland, but the USA's relentless batting proved too much for the visitors.
