Police: Watervliet man accused of 2-time burglary

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Watervliet Police Department has announced the arrest of a Watervliet man for two alleged burglaries. Matthew McKay, 53, faces multiple charges.

Charges

  • Second-degree burglary
  • Third-degree burglary
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • Criminal mischief

It is alleged that McKay stole guns from a bait shop on August 18 and August 25. Police say when they executed a search warrant on McKay's home they found proceeds from both burglary incidents.

According to the police, McKay is currently on parole and has been arrested 45 times with 29 convictions. He was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and placed in the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility.
