Troopers: One dead in Granville fire

GRANVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police have announced that one person died in a structure fire in Granville on Monday. Gene Bassett, 75, of Granville, was found inside the home after the fire was put out according to State Police.

Troopers were called to a home on County Route 21 in Granville at around 8:16 p.m. on Monday when they reported finding the house engulfed in flames. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Granville Fire Department, and Washington County Fire Investigators assisted the State Police on the scene.
