Tyreek Hill's expectations for Jaylen Waddle in 2024 should make Hill's fantasy managers nervous

Tyreek Hill has the No. 2 average draft position in standard fantasy football leagues this summer, according to FantasyPros, coming in just behind Christian McCaffrey at No. 1.

If he’s to make good on that ADP, his fantasy managers will need him to repeat his production of a year ago when he racked up 119 catches for a career-high 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns for an average of 16.1 fantasy points per game.

That’s why his recent comments about teammate Jaylen Waddle should make those managers sweat a little. Hill can only put up WR1 fantasy production if he’s the WR1 on his own team. But from the sounds of it, Hill expects Waddle to take over that role in 2024.

Tyreek Hill’s expectations for Jaylen Waddle:

“All-Pro. I say All-Pro this year. He’s taken his game to another level in the classroom. He’s taking it more serious. … I expect All-Pro. WR1. All that. Lead our team.”

That, of course, is fantastic to hear if you’re one of the lucky managers to snag Waddle at his 37.5 ADP, which is 19th among receivers. However, if you have Hill, you’d rather the 30-year-old not take a backseat to his talented young teammate just yet.

Maybe this was Hill simply trying to instill confidence in the 25-year-old like he did with Tua Tagovailoa two years ago. Especially with it being at a press conference where Hill was discussing being voted a captain. At the same time, it’s not as though Waddle doesn’t have the ability. He’s a former first-round pick who’s caught for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first three years.

If Waddle does make the leap Hill predicts, it’ll likely come at the expense of Hill, who’s a five-time All-Pro himself. Waddle’s best season as the No. 2 receiver in this offense was 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns. Solid but not No. 2 ADP worthy.
