'Callous': Dem shreds Vance over Fox News interview blasting Harris' 'ridiculous division'

A former Democratic Senate candidate hit back at Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance following his Tuesday night appearance on Fox News, in which Vance rebuked Vice President Kamala Harris over her leadership and accused her of sowing division.

Vance appeared on the "Ingraham Angle," where host Laura Ingraham asked him if the country is "not getting ourselves into the position, under this type of woke leadership, of our needing a military draft because of their policies and their handling of military affairs in general in our country?"

Vance, nodding along with Ingraham's question, called it an "important question" and said the country is on the "brink of serious readiness issues."

"Nobody wants to put on a uniform and serve in Kamala Harris' military," he said. "This is someone who wants the United States Army to be about gender, inclusion ridiculous diversity politics instead of about serving your country and uniting together as Americans to serve on the same team and defend your nation."

Vance continued his rant, saying Harris wants to "blunder us" into World War III.

"And of course it's not her family that's going to be fighting that war, it's going to be middle and working-class kids in the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin," he said. "If you're a person trying to join the military, you're probably not going to want to sign up if Kamala Harris is the potential commander-in-chief."

Vance said the country needs "strong leadership" to have a strong military, and to boost the country's recruitment, that means voting for Donald Trump.

"People trust his leadership. They also know that a military led by Donald Trump is about what unites us as Americans and it's not about this ridiculous division of Kamala Harris," he said.

Amy McGrath, a former Marine F/A-18 pilot and 2020 Democratic candidate who lost to incumbent Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, blasted Vance on X over his statement about division.

"Trump and Vance are actually stoking the division he talks about," she wrote. "We’ve never seen the military and in particular, Gold Star families and those who died in battle, be used in such a callous political manner before…never," she said. McGrath appeared to be referencing Trump's controversial visit to Arlington National Cemetery, in which he was accused of violating federal laws by filming and photographing campaign materials in an area where such activities are banned.

"This is a Trump era thing and it’s because of him," she said.
