Thefts on the rise, police issue recommendations

Police on in Limassol arrested a 36-year-old man for an investigated case of theft from a building on Tuesday.

The theft was reported to the Limassol central police station by the person in charge of the building, which is under construction. Investigations lead to evidence against the 36-year-old who was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and taken into custody for questioning.

Police have issued a list of recommendations to protect the public from theft including, maintaining a detailed record of assets, storing property in secured areas, upgrading storage areas with locks or fencing, and installing lighting or alarm systems.

In the event of any suspicious activity the public is urged to immediately inform the nearest police station, or contact the authorities via the citizen’s hotline on 1460 or by calling 112 or 199.
