“Just cannot compete…”: Ahmed Shehzad blasts Pakistan team after series defeat to Bangladesh

The criticism against the Pakistan team continues to pour in after they suffered a humiliating 0-2 whitewash in the Test series against Bangladesh at home. This is the first time that the Men in Green have been defeated by Bangladesh in a Test series, so the criticism is only expected to only get bigger in the coming days.

The series defeat also saw Pakistan slip to the eighth spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings. They are on the verge of elimination from the Test tournament as they are only above the West Indies in the table.

After the defeat, the likes of Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq questioned the quality of Pakistan batters while Ahmed Shehzad slammed the Pakistan team by saying that they do not know how to compete. He also praised Bangladesh for showing the hosts what it takes to play Test cricket.

“Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan in their own backyard. You guys just cannot compete. The situation in Bangladesh wasn’t ideal (political unrest and violence) and the team even trained for the series in Pakistan. They dominated throughout be it their batting or bowling. They taught Pakistan the grit that’s needed to play Test cricket. Their bowlers taught Pakistan what discipline is,” Shehzad said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“I am sure this win will be motivating for the Bangladesh fans given what’s happening in their country. Bangladesh players did what they could for their own country and fans,” Shehzad added.

This series win means a lot for the Bangladesh team as not only was it their first-ever Test series triumph over Pakistan, it also took them to the fourth spot on the WTC points table.

According to reports, Pakistan’s white-ball coach Gary Kirsten and red-ball coach Jason Gillespie have asked the PCB to no press the panic button as it may result in a major dent in the confidence of the players.
