Flood Watch in Effect for Acadiana
A Flood Watch is in effect until Friday evening for central and southern Acadiana as a stormy pattern starts this afternoon. Localized flash flooding is possible for areas north of I-10 but the risk is slightly lower. Wednesday is off to a mostly quiet start but rain chances will increase to 70% this afternoon as scattered showers and storms become likely. A few storms could produce heavy rains. Highs should reach the upper 80s followed by rain-cooled air late in the day.
Heavy storms are expected to last through Thursday and much of Friday. Estimated rainfall totals are from 3" to 6" inches across Acadiana with isolated higher amounts of 7" inches or more. The higher threat for flash flooding could be across coastal parishes. The stormy pattern breaks this weekend as a taste of Fall arrives on Sunday!
