Craft Beverages of the Catskills launches new craft beverage trail, mobile app
KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Craft Beverages of the Catskills, a nonprofit organization, and Senator Michelle Hinchey (D-Saugerties) have announced the launch of a new Catskill Mountain craft beverage trail and mobile app. The Craft Beverage Trail of the Catskills and its app "Drink the Catskills" will feature 23 different craft beverage businesses.
In 2021, Hinchey secured $100,000 through the New York State Agriculture Budget to create the trail within the Catskill Mountains. According to Hinchey, the trail focuses on small businesses throughout the Catskills.
"Strengthening our economy can be done in many different ways, but focusing on our small businesses, including our agritourism sector, will pay dividends for years to come," Hinchey said. "The official launch of the first Catskills Beverage Trail, complete with a state-of-the-art consumer app, centers our craft beverage producers at the heart of our region’s economic resurgence and will make it easier for visitors and locals alike to find and support their favorite burgeoning businesses while boosting economic development. I’m proud to have worked with Craft Beverages of the Catskills to help create this trail, and I’m excited to see it succeed and grow with the addition of new businesses."
The Drink the Catskills app is free to download and guides users to each regional craft beverage business, with special promotions to encourage visits. Corey Cavallaro, the president of the nonprofit, said it will make it easier for people to support businesses.
"Thanks to the funding secured by Senator Hinchey, the Craft Beverage Trail of the Catskills and our ‘Drink the Catskills’ app are now a reality," Cavallaro said. "This platform showcases the exceptional craft beverage producers throughout the Catskill Region, making it easier for people to support these local businesses and the local economy in their area."
