ParalympicsGB Judoka set for Paris 2024

The draw has been completed for the Paralympic Judo competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Three ParalympicsGB judoka will be in action at the Champ de Mars arena on the final day of judo competition on Saturday (7 September).

Tokyo 2020 champion Chris Skelley and Daniel Powell both return for their third Paralympic Games whilst Evan Molloy will make his Paralympic debut.

Competing in the J1 -90kg category, Powell has medalled at his last 9 competitions, including taking silver medals at the World and European Championships.

The Liverpudlian is seeded 3rd and will face the winner of the opening round contest against Bauyrzhan Arstanbekov (KAZ) and Mousa Gholamishafia (IRI) in the Quarter-Final.

Evan Molloy will compete in the J2-90kg category. The 2023 European Championship bronze medallist has an opening-round bye before facing 4th seed Marcela Casanona (BRA)

Skelley will be in action in the J2 +90kg category and enters as the 4th seed. The Hull judoka has been drawn against local athlete Nacer Zorgani (FRA)

Following the draw British Judo Paralympic Head Coach, Ian Johns said: “The team are ready; we know all of the opponents incredibly well and we know the best of the best are here, it’s the Paralympic Games, there are no easy fights.

“The team are well prepared and are all really excited to get to step on to the tatami ready to do the country proud.”

Action at the Champ de Mars Arena starts at 8:30am (BST) on Saturday with Final Block scheduled to start at 14:30.
