'Goat head' games: When the Sabres will wear retro jerseys in '24-25 season
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Sabres will wear their popular black and red uniforms for 15 games this coming season, including each of their Friday night home games.
The retro sweaters with the white bison emblem, colloquially known as the "goat head," will make their season debut Oct. 26 in a Saturday night game against the Detroit Red Wings as part of a Hockey Halloween promotion. See the full schedule below.
All-Star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin has said "we feel evil" when the Sabres are dressed in black on the ice.
More often than not, the Sabres have played with a different energy when sporting the threads that throw back to the club's color scheme from 1996 through 2006. They have an 18-7-2 record and have scored five or more goals in 14 of those victories over the past two seasons.
