Trump campaign says it raised $130M in August

The Trump campaign said Wednesday it raised $130 million in the month of August, a haul fueled almost entirely by donations of less than $200.

The campaign said its August fundraising total left it with $295 million cash on hand entering the final two months of the general election campaign as Trump attempts to keep pace with Vice President Harris's fundraising juggernaut of a campaign.

The Trump campaign said 98 percent of its donations received in August were less than $200, with an average amount of $56.

“With Republicans united and a growing number of Independents and disaffected Democrats crossing partisan lines, the Trump-Vance campaign has momentum for the final stretch of the race," senior Trump campaign adviser Brian Hughes said in a statement.

"These fundraising numbers from August are a reflection of that movement and will propel President Trump’s America First movement back to the White House so we can undo the terrible failures of Harris and Biden," Hughes added.

The Trump campaign has seen its fundraising spike in recent months, and at one point it had overtaken President Biden's campaign. But Biden's decision to end his candidacy and the move to put Harris atop the ticket has supercharged Democratic fundraising.

Harris campaign Chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a memo over the weekend that the vice president had raised more than $540 million since she entered the race July 21, a historic amount for a candidate in that time frame.

The Harris campaign announced Tuesday it was sending nearly $25 million to Democratic committees to invest in downballot candidates, using its significant fundraising haul to try to secure majorities in Congress.
