Fight leads to alleged attempted drowning at Milford Lake's Nudie Beach, arrest made

GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) - Law enforcement says a man was arrested after allegedly trying to drown another individual at a beach at Milford Lake in Geary County.

The Geary County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that deputies were called on Aug. 18 around noon about an alleged fight at Milford Lake (Nudie Beach) that took place on Aug. 17. Investigating the situation, deputies learned a man from Leonardville was at the beach with family and friends when a fight broke out between him and a 42-year-old man from Randolph.

Investigators found, after speaking with several witnesses, the Randolph man allegedly tried to drown the Leonardville man in the water before being pulled away by others at the scene. The Leonardville man was injured following the fight.

Deputies with the sheriff's office arrested the Randolph man around 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 4 on charges of attempted murder and criminal threat. He is currently being held at the Geary County Detention Center.
