Health department investigating legionellosis outbreak at senior living facility

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Department of Health is investigating the legionellosis outbreak at Peregrine Senior Living. The county said 20 people have been hospitalized since August 30.

Nine residents tested positive, and two of those patients have died. The New York State Department of Health and Albany County Department of Health have taken water samples for testing.

Legionellosis is not a communicable disease. Water filters are being installed at the facility. The state department of health was made aware of the potential outbreak on August 29. The facility has been on water restrictions since August 30.
