Paralymic swimmer Pelendritou competing in 100m breaststroke on Thursday

Cypriot Paralympic swimmer Karolina Pelendritou will be competing in the Paris 2024 Paralympics at La Défense Arena on Thursday in the SB11 category 100m breaststroke race.

Pelendritou won silver on August 31 in the S11 50-metre freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Pelendritou, 38, finished at 29.82 and was behind China’s Ma Jia (28.96).

This was Pelendritou’s seventh Paralympic medal, as she won three gold medals, a silver and two bronze in previous Paralympic Games.

Meanwhile, Cyprus Sports Organisation president Yiannis Ioannou visited the Paralympic Village on Wednesday and spoke with Cyprus’ paralympic athletes.

Ioannou referred to a scheme in place for the vocational rehabilitation of all athletes who qualify in Olympic and Paralympic Games.

President Nikos Christodoulides also sent a message through a live link, praising the athletes.

Deputy Social Welfare Minister Marilena Evangelou, Cyprus’ ambassador to France Pavlos Kombos, president of Cyprus’ National Paralympic Committee Andreas Kamarlingos, among others, also visited the Paralympic Village.
