23-year-old caught red-handed breaking into parked cars

A 23-year-old has been arrested in connection with illegal possession of property, after police caught him red-handed trying to break into parked cars.

At 1.15am on Thursday, a policeman, off duty at the time, saw a person trying to break into parked cars, using various keys, in an open place in Nicosia.

The 23-year-old managed to open one of the cars before the policeman approached him.

The policeman apprehended the perpetrator, who had a pair of sunglasses and two lighters in his possession, which he appears to have said did not belong to him.

The 23-year-old was arrested and placed in custody to facilitate investigations.

Omorfita police are investigating the case.
