Police shoot ‘gunman’ after incident near Israeli embassy

An ‘active shooter’ is on the run after firing several shots outside an Israeli consulate in Munich.

Police shot what has been described as a ‘suspicious person’, who managed to flee despite being hit.

They have urged people to avoid area, which is also near the the German city’s Nazi documentation centre, in Munich’s Maxvorstadt neighbourhood.

‘A major operation is currently underway in the area of Briennerstrasse and Karolinenplatz’, police said on X.

‘We have numerous emergency personnel on site. Further information will follow on this channel.’
