‘It’s giving Balamory,’ shoppers left in stitches as they compare Urban Outfitters top to kids’ show cardigan
SHOPPERS were left in stitches as they compared an Urban Outfitters top to a cardigan from a beloved TV show.
Balamory, which entertained youngsters from 2002-2005, was set in a fictional Scottish village.
Parents across the country will fondly remember the BBC programme for its multi-coloured houses and iconic theme tune.
The show, filmed on Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, featured Chewin’ the Fat star Julie Wilson Nimmo as school teacher Miss Hoolie.
She was often seen wearing her staple stripy green cardigan.
Amused shoppers flocked to social media after discovering a top very similar to Miss Hoolie’s.
Urban Outfitters’ BDG Denver Stripe Polo Cardigan features a green stripy design.
The “preppy knit” comes with a button-through placket, long sleeves, a cropped hem and a spread collar.
It can be snapped up in green, blue or yellow colours.
Posting a picture of the top alongside a shot of Miss Hoolie, one fashion fanatic wrote on X: “Urban Outfitters giving Balamory.”
Shoppers flocked to the comments to react to the amusing comparison.
One wrote: “Balamory core for winter, I’m hearing.”
Another said: “Yasssss Miss Hoolie.”
A third added: “Miss Hoolie core!”
The stars of Balamory previously broke their silence on the show’s return.
Julie Wilson Nimmo appeared on This Morning alongside co-star Andrew Agnew, who played PC Plum, to rave about the show’s success.
She said: “There was no-one on our show cutting about, thinking look, we’ve arrived on this show. We were one of the first shows on the Cbeebies channel, which wasn’t even a thing at the time.
“We just loved the script and we were just so excited. Our producer and director Brian Jamieson, it was his baby.
“Him and Helen Docherty came up with this idea and we just all loved it.”
Andrew added: “There isn’t [any plans for a return] but it would be lovely.”
