Wild moment driver deliberately blocks primary school path with car in parking battle as parents fume ‘kids are scared’

AN ANGRY resident has blocked a pathway leading to an all girls primary school and parents are panicking.

Residents of Meadowcroft cul-de-sac in Bushey, Herts, are getting fed up with St Hilda’s Preparatory School parents walking through their private road to drop their kids off.

Meadowcroft estate is connected to St Hilda’s School by a footpath, making it an ideal shortcut for parents.

ANPR cameras have been in place in the area since last year, with penalty charges of £100 being sent out to some unlucky parents.

To the residents’ dismay, this was not enough to deter them.

In a desperate bid to daunt them, one parent claimed that this summer, a resident used their red car to block access to the school entrance.

Additionally, black graffiti appeared on the no-through-road stating “private road”.

A St Hilda’s parent, who racked up £120 worth of fines for parking there last year, told the Watford Observer: “We completely respect the residents’ right to privacy and we don’t want to intrude.

“Parents are genuinely worried for their children’s safety and we just want to take our children to and from school.”

“Now we have to park on the other side and navigate quite an extremely busy road everyday, I don’t think we cause any disruption by walking through the area”, admitted the 41-year-old dad.

He adds that further verbal clashes have occurred recently as mums and dads used the road for summer activities.

St Hilda’s Preparatory School for Girls and Hertfordshire County Council were approached for comment.
